'A Meaty Overload! (Less Than $5) | Singapore Street Food | Bak Chor Mee'

'We are back at this hawker stall to try another of their signature dish, this time the Bak Chor Mee (肉脞面). The dish name translates literally to \"minced meat and noodles\" in the Teochew dialect, and it typically includes pork in its different form: minced pork, pork slices, pork liver (slices), and stewed or braised mushrooms, on noodles, tossed and mixed in pork lard oil, vinegar, and sambal chilli.   It has quite a few similarities to another local staple that we call \"fishball noodles\". The main points of differentiation here being the usage of fishballs, mushrooms, the inclusion/exclusion of vinegar in its sauce, and probably fried dried sole fish.  The one I ate here in this video uses the \'Hanjuku Egg\', the type of soft boiled eggs that are commonly found in Japanese ramen. A curious choice indeed, and I have to say that it\'s a very well-executed bowl of Bak Chor Mee. The Mee Pok (flat, yellow egg noodles) were perfectly al-dente; the sauce is well-balanced without going overboard with the amount of vinegar used; and nearly all the accompanying ingredients are well-seasoned and competently cooked. It\'s an easy 8/10 for me.
