'Located in the CBD, Maxwell Food Centre is one of Singapore’s most well-known hawker centres. But with work-from-home now the default, the absence of working crowds takes a toll on the hawkers there.   The owners of two well known stalls, China Street Fritters and Oriental Duck Stall, have survived decades in the hawker trade. Originating from roadside stalls at China Street, these hawkers have seen themselves through SARS, bouts of avian and swine flu, as well as the 2008 financial crisis.
