'As a Filipino that hasn\'t experienced a long weekend backyard party in the United States, this labor day pool party was an eye opener. The party wasn\'t as packed as I would imagine. Since social distancing and limits on backyard parties are enforced during this COVID pandemic, there were only a handful of us. Although there were only a few of us, it was pretty much fun and enjoyable. Doing a backyard bbq was as easy as 1-2-3. It seems normal here compared to Manila. Traffic wise, it wasn\'t as bad as what you would get in Metro Manila. 1 hour of travel in Manila is around 20 km, 1 hour in the US is usually 120km or 75 miles. (still depends) Distance traveled doesn\'t seem to be a big factor here. Food wise, Filipino food would be forever in my mind but the quality of the dishes and meat that is easily available here in the States amazes me. Not only are they readily available at your local super market but some are easy to cook or prepared or even cooked that are at par with different restaurants. Granted price wise, it\'s a big difference. The fact that it was roughly 45 degrees C / 113 degrees F made the pool more inviting. One thing that made it bearable was that the heat was dry. It wasn\'t humid that made everything sticky. Of course, we kept our distance with one another and made sure to always disinfect or wash our hands. We also wore masks whenever we were out of the water. In anycase, this was a fun day for me and my relatives.
